Important Information
Life Skills
In Kindergarten we really try to build our independency skills! Please have your child practice by themself...
Opening and closing water bottles, zipping jackets, tying shoes, getting snow gear on, bathroom etiquette (wiping, flushing, washing hands), zipping backpacks shut, opening lunch/snack items such as cheese sticks or bagged items like chips and fruit snacks.
We of course work on these in school but it is so helpful if your child can already do these things!
Sick Days
If your child will not be attending school due to illness, appointments, etc., email [email protected]
If your child vomits in school they must stay out of school for 24 hours. For example, if Johnny pukes at 1:30 he cannot return to school until 1:30 the next day.
I know its a bummer to have to take time off of work to stay home with your sick child, but please be mindful of others! Illnesses spread like wildfire with little ones. Let's keep our classroom and school healthy. :)
Transportation
If your child has a change in transportation, email [email protected].
If your child will not be riding the bus in the morning please call the school office at 218-436-2261 or email [email protected]
If your child is being picked up early, please let both attendance and I know!
Please be sure to stress the importance of good behavior on the bus to your child. Staying in one spot, always sitting down, picking up their garbage, grabbing their belongings before getting off the bus, no yelling, etc.
Snacks/Birthdays/Treats
We do have snack once a day with milk. The first snack item you purchase off of the class supplies list will get us through the beginning of school. Once show & tell starts, that is when your child will bring an item along with a snack for that specific day.
Also, if you would like to send a treat with your child on his or her birthday (optional) it must be a store-bought treat such as cookies or cupcakes.
If you would like to bring treats for classroom holiday parties, please ask me in advance. Sometimes too many bring goodies and there is an over abundance!
Items from home
Please leave any toys or trinkets at home. We cannot be held responsible for missing or stolen items. The only time your child should bring a toy is for their show and tell.
Homework
Homework will be little to none at the beginning of the school year. As the year progresses I may send home homework in the content areas of either reading, math, or sight words.
Library
We go to library once a week. Students may check out one book per week. If the book isn't returned by the next library day, they will not be allowed to check out another book.
Tennis Shoes
Please send tennis shoes with your kiddo for gym class!
Winter Clothing
Students should wear boots, snow pants, heavy coats, mittens/gloves, etc., during the winter months. We send them outside regardless of their attire, so please make sure they are dressed warmly!
Water Bottles
Please send a washable water bottle with your child. These will need to be sent home and washed every day.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences will be in November and March.
