The purpose of this page is to inform students of scholarship opportunities. Please check out all the links and information provided. This scholarship list is subject to change depending on scholarship availability.  If you have any questions or comments, please contact Heidi Hanson.

- $200

Karlstad Lions
Two $500 awards. Any post-secondary school. Prior to collection of award, the recipient will be required to show proof of successfully completing Fall semester as a full-time student (12 credit minimum), and is currently registered/enrolled for Spring semester.

Essay required:  150-200 words— “In what way have you served your community, church, or school and how do you see yourself continuing this service in the future?”
Tri-County Education Association
One scholarship up to $350. Any post-secondary school with preference given to students pursuing a degree in education and/or children of TCS staff members. Prior to collection of award, the recipient will be required to show proof of successfully completing their first semester, within one year of graduation, as a full-time student (12 credit minimum) and is currently registered/enrolled as a full-time student for the following semester.
Ryan Grahn Memorial Scholarship
Number and amount of awards varies each year. Any post-secondary school. Applicant must have participated in at least two contest plays to be eligible. Essay required—150-200 words, double spaced responding to the following statement. “What I have gained from participation in drama that will enhance my post-secondary experience and future goals.”
Tri-County Sports Booster Scholarship
Number and amounts vary by year. Additional form required.

Local Perennial Ryegrass Producers/Norfarm Seeds Scholarship
One $1500 award to a student pursing a career in agriculture or has a family involved in agriculture.  Award is selected locally.
Karlstad American Legion Auxiliary Post #445
- Number of awards varies by year.
- Amount of awards will be $200.
- Any post-secondary school.   
- Mother or Grandmother must be a member for at least the last three consecutive years.
- Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative high school average and/or be in the
top third of their class.

Dane & Jane Nordine/Karlstad Lions Memorial Scholarship
Two $500 awards. Any post-secondary school. Prior to collection of award, the recipient will be required to show proof of successfully completing Fall semester as a full-time student (12 credit minimum), and is currently registered/enrolled for Spring semester.

Tri-County Music Boosters
​
Up to two $200 awards.   Any post-secondary school. Additional form required.
Must have participated in TCH music and includes a music resume which includes years of participation in band and choir, all solos and ensembles and the ratings you received, your career intentions and any special performances or activities you have participated in during high school.

Douglas Hultgren Music Education Scholarship

This memorial scholarship is given to a Tri-County student who has been active in music activities during their high school year and who is planning a career in music education.  Please review the application supplement below.

Lorne Spilde Memorial Scholarship
​
One $200 award. Any post-secondary school. Essay required: 150-200 word essay, double spaced, responding to the following statement.

“What have I gained in my high school career and how will it help my goals for college and my future.”
​
Award will be given after completing a semester of college (12 credit minimum) and proof of enrollment for the next semester.
Altru Health Systems
Altru Health Systems will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior whose major interest is in the field of health care or related sciences.  50-100 word essay on why you deserve this scholarship.

Workforce Development Scholarships
​Deadline: Friday, March 29 at 11:59 pm
-    Students must be enrolled/declared into (1) advanced manufacturing; (2) agriculture; (3) health care services; or (4) information technology programs. Identification of applicable programs are up to the college’s discretion.
-    Students must be entering high-demand occupations upon graduation following the same methodology used to determine high demand for leveraged equipment (LMIwise search and 3 stars minimum).
-    Students must be enrolled minimum of 9 credits per term
-    Distribution of scholarship funds shall be split evenly between the two terms.
-    Preference for students with financial need

AgCountry Farm Credit Services
-    Must be senior entering college in fall 2018. Applicants must be from an actively farming or ranching family OR must be planning to pursue a career in farming or some other aspect of agriculture such
as agricultural extension, agricultural education, soil conservation, farm and ranch management, agricultural finance, veterinary medicine or agri-business. Must be resident of certain ND/MN counties, including Marshall County. Selection is based on academic aptitude, vocational promise, personal attributes, leadership and financial need.
-    Max. Award:  $1,000
2020 Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship

-Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists and Allina Health are proud to present the 13th annual Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship. Two $2,500.00 scholarships are available and will be awarded to one male and one female graduating high school student athlete who intend to pursue a professional career in sports medicine. 

-Sports and Orthopedic Specialists and Allina Health Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship criteria: 
1. Graduating high school senior from the state of Minnesota. 
2. Planning on attending a four-year college or university within the United States. 
3. Involved in an interscholastic sport each of their 4 years in high school. 
4. Intending to major in a field related to sports medicine.

MN School Counselors Association Scholarship
-    Must be a MN senior.  In no more than 500 words, describe how a licensed school counselor has supported you in any of the following areas: career development, social/emotional development, educational planning. Licensed school counselor you write about must be an MSCA member.

-    A variety of scholarships are available through the Northland CTC Foundation at both the Thief River Falls campus and the East Grand Forks campus.

PKM Electric Cooperative Trust Scholarship
Deadline: Wednesday, April 15, 2020
-    Must be a member of the PKM cooperative, or be the spouse or child of a member.
-    Must plan to attend a post-secondary institution.

MN Chapter of Women in Public Finance
Deadline: Friday, May 31, 2019
​The Minnesota Chapter of Women in Public Finance (MnWPF) is again offering scholarships to college-bound high school women entering their senior year of high school in the fall of 2019 AND to female college undergraduates entering their freshman or sophomore years in the fall of 2019. A total of at least $5,000 will be allocated toward this effort.  Applications via email to info@mnwpf.org are due by midnight CDT on Friday, May 31, 2019. Scholarship recipients should expect to be notified by August 1, 2019. The scholarship application form is attached to this email and will also be available at www.mnwpf.org.

Travis W Watkins Scholarship
Deadline: Last day in April or the last day in December of every year
The Travis W. Watkins Tax Resolution & Accounting Firm Scholarship is a one-time $1,000 award for any current or soon-to-be student. The Travis W. Watkins Scholarship has a brief and 100% confidential submission process, and applicants will be judged on their ability to convey the importance of tax compliance as well as the journey of those challenges.
