Preschool Information
Supply list
- Regular size backpack that will fit yours child’s papers and winter clothing.
- 1 change of clothing (including socks and underwear) in a plastic bag that can be left in their backpack through the year.
Entry Guidelines
Children must be 3 before September 1 st. We recommend that everyone apply for Head Start as well as attending School Readiness.
Academic Progress
We assess your child 3 times a year through observation. Parent Teacher conferences will be held fall, mid-winter and spring.
Transportation
If your child is to be transported by bus you will be notified as to the bus number and pick-up times shortly before school starts in September. Parents whose children are transported to and from day care must complete a Child Care Transportation Request Form. Please send a written note to us when your child will not be riding their regular home or to day care. Because young children are not always accurate bearers of information all children who do not have a note will be asked to ride their usual bus. Please be sure to stress the importance of good behavior on the bus to your child. If your child will not be riding the bus in the morning please call the school office at 436-2261 so that they may contact the bus driver. Morning preschoolers can ride the bus to school and at 11:15 need to be picked or can pay for bussing at that time.
Attendance
When your child is absent please report the absence to the school office at 436-2374. If your child has a temperature over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and/or other symptoms such as cough, nasal congestion, vomiting or undiagnosed skin problems please do not send your child to school. Children should be free of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours before they return to school. If we don’t hear from you we do call, we want to make sure your child is safe and is where he/she is supposed to be.
Sending money to school
When you need to send money to school please send it in a sealed envelope. On the envelope please write your child's name and preschool. Also write what the money is to be used for.
Book Bags
Please send a regular-size book bag to school with your child every day. This will help to keep your child's papers from getting ruined or lost. Please check your child's bag every day. You will find papers and notes. It is important for you to discuss your child's work with him/her. You might comment on neatness, praise a colorful drawing or ask questions about how a page was completed. It is important that your child knows you are interested in his/her schoolwork.
Winter Clothing
Our students should have boots, snow pants, scarves, mittens, and jackets during the winter months. If you do not have some of these things, please let us know. We do have some donated items. It is important for children to get fresh air and exercise.
Breakfast and lunch
All preschoolers will receive breakfast every morning.
The 4 year old's that stay all day will also be served lunch and an afternoon snack.
You will recieve a notifaction with Lunch Breakfast Bills if you did not quailify for Free/Reduced Meals.
Library
We have library every Wednesday. Mrs. Reese reads the preschoolers a story and then they get to choose one book. We ask that books checked out be returned on the following Tuesday. If they have not brought back a previously checked out book they will not get to choose another book until the other one is returned.
Book Orders
Book orders will be sent home with your child several times this year. If you choose to order, fill out the form and send the check or cash to school in an envelope. The checks may be written to the book company. A note is usually attached to each book order so you know the last day to order.
